Star Trek: The Next Generation

Star Trek: The Next Generation is perhaps the most successful Sci-Fi TV Shows of all time. During its original (1987 – 1994) run on Television, The Next Generation won an amazing 18 Emmy Awards including an Emmy for Best Dramatic Series. Despite having finished its original run in 1994, the show remains popular among fans.

The show follows the crew of the Starship USS Enterprise. The show follows on approximately 80 years after the final mission of the original Enterprise crew, which was led by the famous Captain Kirk. The crew of the Starship USS Enterprise is commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard (famously played by Patrick Stewart).

Heroes

Heroes is an American Sci-Fi TV Show that originally ran from 2006 through to 2010. During this time four seasons were aired in which the show gained a huge following. The show has won a raft of awards including Emmys and Golden Globes. The show was enhanced by an internet extension which was called “Heroes Evolutions”. Heroes Evolutions allowed fans to explore the universe of Heroes and discover more about the show’s characters and their backgrounds.

The show’s plot is centred upon ordinary people who discover supernatural abilities. The show tells the story of how these people deal with their gifts in their everyday lives and how they use their abilities. The show uses a typical comic-book style in that every episode contains its own story which builds into a larger story throughout the show.

Misfits

Misfits is a British Sci-Fi Drama which airs on UK Entertainment Channel, E4. The show began airing on E4 in late 2009. The show is also aired in Australia, New Zealand and via Hulu in the United States. The show has won a BATFTA Award for Best British Drama Series.

Misfits tells the story of a group of Twenty somethings who gain super-natural powers as a result of being caught outside in an electrical storm. Each character on the show has his / her own unique ability. For example, after being caught in the super-natural storm, the character Kelly gains the ability to hear the thoughts of others. Ireland’s own Charlene McKenna and Robert Sheehan have starred in the show.
